Facebook Earning Recap and Valuation

Facebook was loved at $220 and is hated at $150. I chose to buy January $155 calls prior to earnings and expressed my reasons for being bullish on this wide most social media company. I thought the negativity was ridiculously overdone. I made a quick 5 minute video to highlight Facebook stock and show where the shares might be headed. Enjoy!

Why is EA so trash?
I should have never bought this stock. I've had it since January and I've never been more than barely up, and now I am close to 30% in the hole on it. At least Take-Two recovers from dips. This crap just gets worse.

When would revenue show up? $TTWO
Quick question on when revenue would show up in a quarterly report.
Take 2 Interactive ( $TTWO ) which owns Rockstar gaming has an earning call on November 7th.
http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&p=irol-eventDetails&EventId=5275762
Would the recent revenue from the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 be on this earnings call? The game is breaking all sorts of sales records and I'd expect a huge beat on revenue expectations for the company.
http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2374123&highlight=
Will it be on this conference call? Or when would the revenue from the game launch show up? Does it matter that this is the parent company?

Can someone help me clear some stuff up with options.
So lets say I buy a call on ACB @ $6 with a cost of $2.50. That option costs me 1x2.5x100 which is $250.
So that call expires on Nov 16th 2018 and ACB hits $12. All in theory of course.
Do I need $600 in my questrade account to exercise that option? Or can I buy it, go into the negative then sell to level myself out and collect my profit.
Basically, do I need the cash up front in my TFSA or can I put that money in the account, buy regular stock and still exercise that option if I choose to do so?
Also, lets say on Nov 10th 2018 ACB hits $10 and I think that's good enough. Can I buy my 100 shares @ $6 early? 100 shares is the minimum you can lock in correct? Questrade only offers me contracts of 100.
Finally, before you jump down my throat about new investors and options. Im more or less curious as to how options work, I'm not quite in a position yet to buy options, I'm trying to learn more so I'm ready for the next step.

Robinhood might be more expensive than you think...
Thoughts on this?
I never thought about choosing which “batch” of stocks I would be selling, I’m only buying for the long term, but this article brings up a good point about trading on Robinhood and tax implications of their “first in first out” approach to selling stock... if I transfer my Robinhood stock to my TD account would I be able to then select which batch I wanted to sell?

Example of The Motley Fool spreading false information on TIPS
I have always been a vocal advocate that the Motley Fool is close to a scam in the world of investment advice. Their recommendations don't work and they window-dress their mutual fund products by closing down underperforming mutual funds (survivorship bias).
In this article, The Motley Fool clearly doesn't understand how Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) work and overstates its protection against inflation to be twice of what it actually is:
Here's how it works: every month, the government releases the latest reading on the CPI. The Treasury then boosts the principal value of every TIPS issue by that same amount. Interest payments are calculated based on the changing inflation-adjusted principal value. For instance, say inflation rose 1% over the course of a given year. A bond initially issued for $1,000 would see its principal amount rise $10 to $1,010. If those bonds pay 1% interest every six months, then the next interest payment would be $10.10 rather than $10, because of the boost from inflation.
I have highlighted the error part. First, there is a minor error that the face value is adjusted by inflation, not the change of inflation. Second, there is a material error that the interest (coupon) payment is actually calculated based on a face value adjusted for the inflation during the period equal to the payment frequency, not "inflation over a given year". In the example, if inflation is 1% that year, then US Treasury will deem inflation to be only 0.5% for the six month period, and the interest payment will be only $10.05.
I hope all fixed-income traders understand these products correctly and not misinformed by bad people.

Thoughts on Inverse ETFs
I’m wondering why buying something such as SPXU or SPXS is not talked about more during downtrends in the overall market. Is it just safer to short a single stock than the entire market? Are leveraged ETFs just too much risk for most?? I understand that you’re betting against some solid companies but a bear market is bound to happen at some point.

Why are bond Prices falling?
So I’ve been in the stock market for about a year mostly trading equities (no options). I’m a longer term, fundamentals investment type. My quest is about bond prices. Excuse the ignorance, I never payed much attention to bonds.
With the sell off of equities and the increase in interest rates I would have thought that bond prices would have increased. I have a small portion of my portfolio in bonds (~15%). However with the sell off in the stock market this position (Fidelity Total Bond Fund - FTBFX) hasn’t done much. It hasn’t gone down much but it hasn’t increased much either. I would have thought that as the sell off continues in equities people would be moving their money to safer places (ie. bonds) and that my bond fund would have been worth more.
What am I missing here?

Is trading stocks anywhere near what my government teacher made it seem like?
Back when i was in highschool, in one of my classes we did a "mock stock trading" assignment for about 6-ish months.
We had a fictional 10k to spend on stocks. We would check the stock prices every month and at the end of 6 months, figure out how much money we'd actually made. We were able to sell and trade stocks at anytime.
We used google for everything and kept everything written down on a sheet of paper.
We did this around the holiday season, and as you'd suspect everyone chose popular everyday brands that high school students knew about. ( vans, jansport, toys r us, nike, apple, ETC.)
Even though i was always interested in stocks and actually took this assignment seriously, i was just as dumb as all the other students, picking the same everyday brands, but also taking into consideration the upcoming holidays, and not just picking my favorite shoe/clothing brands like everyone else. In the last couple of months i upped my knowledge slightly and sold/bought bigger company stocks, things like GM, pharmaceutical stocks, and even "purchased" a stock my teacher hadn't even heard about.
At the end of the assignment, all the students in all the classes did some math and figured out how much they had earned (or lost) in addition to the initial 10k we started with.
I ended up in 2nd place with a profit of about 20-30-ish thousand. The teacher was in 1st place making a profit of i believe 40-50-ish thousand.
Is it really that simple? If i had 10k or more to invest in stocks, and played it right, would it really be that simple?
Or is there a lot more to it then simply just buying/selling stocks, and watching the market?

Anyone interested in starting to invest, but doesn't know where to start.
Fidelity has a lot of good reading material. You don't even have to have an account. Just download the app, hit the tab in the top left corner, select "learning center" and there is a plethora of information that's well organized and designed. This is like a micro-college course in itself. I haven't checked if it's the same on their website, but I wouldn't see why not.
*I do not work for Fidelity, I just discovered this information and thought I'd spread the word. I'm sure other brokerages have similar material.
These topics are set up in "exercises", broken down into modules, and reminds me of the template used in something like an intro to economics class, but specific to investing. I learn best by reading, most videos don't really do it for me. If you learn like me, this may be for you. I haven't gotten through all of them (barely got through the first few), but they seem to cover pretty much every beginner question there is. These are the topics:

Will the bull market officially be dead come Friday?
With Apple's earnings report taking place after hours on Thursday, will a miss signal the end of the bull market? I'm not counting Apple out and I'm expecting a beat. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if a miss on earnings is the last domino to fall and pushes the market into a full on crash.

I'm Bummed Too - You're Not Alone
Just wanted to tell everyone that's I'm sad about how the market has turned.
It sucks to see 2 years worth of progress hit the crapper because you keep holding on just one more day, and every call you make lately seems to be the wrong one.
But we're all in the same boat together, we're holding onto our companies and riding through the storm. We all lost a lot and we're all borderline depressed. It's going to get better and we all know that, we're just bummed that we couldnt use this to make MORE money because we added more funds on the drop a few weeks ago, but, It's gonna go back, we're still gonna make money, even people who held after the recession doubled their funds 8 years later. That's just tuition to the school of hard knocks. The difference between you and them and you are an active investor who is learning from this experience. Think of how much you will learn down the road from this. Sure you could just hold, but take time to learn about what these past two years has taught you about trading and how much more you've put in the market since then.
We're all drained by the upsets this year, but we're also all learning together. That's what this subreddit's for. Hang tight brothers and sisters, we're gonna be better when this is done.

Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days)
This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report.

Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days)
These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds).
There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions.
New Filings
This table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold.
Amended Filings
This table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership.
