College student looking to begin investing

Hi everyone, I'm currently a 19 year old Economics and Math student at a university in the midwest.

I've been interested in the stock market since I took a money management class at 15. However, I am just now deciding that I'm at a point where I want to start investing. As I have no actual experience in investing, I have a few major questions:

What are some good websites to trade through? I'd like to have some money invested in smaller, more volatile stocks that I could play around with a bit, and some money in large stocks that typically see constant, slower returns.

What are some good books/articles to read before actually investing? Although there's no foolproof investing strategy, I'd like to be well equipped before I put my somewhat limited money into the market.

What are some major red flags for investing websites/stocks themselves? I saw in a post here that someone recommended SureTrader, which seems to be a bit of a shady website. Also, what's a good way to interpret headlines/what companies actually say about themselves?

Of course the stock market is very diverse and there's not a whole lot of solidarity as far as the answers to my questions go, but if I have a basic framework I'm willing to take the plunge and see what I can do.

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps!
