So we all know AT&T pending acquisition of Time Warner is in a court battle with the US Justice Department however even without the owner of HBO, Warner Bros. Studios, and Turner Networks. Here are the content/media assets current owned -fully or partially- by AT&T:
-
AT&T Sport Nets [regional sport networks] with 13 million subscribers in 22 states
-
40% stake in another rsn- Root Sports Northwest with 60% owned by Seattle League club
-
42% of GSN (Game Show Network) with the remaining 58% owned by Sony Pictures [so a potential target and natural one if Time Warner deal does not happen]
-
50% of Otter Media which owns Crunchyroll, VRV, Fullscreen (which owns Rooster Teeth), Gunpowder and Sky, Dust, and Hello Sunshine (with Reese Witherspoon) other 50% owned by Peter Chernin's Chernin Group [AT&T reportedly going to buyout the remaining stake for $1 Billion]
-
Audience Network (AT&T Audience or simply Audience) programming include Mr Mercedes, Kingdom among others
-
AT&T Originals TV studio (formerly DIRECTV Originals)
-
AT&T Hello Labs digital studio
-
2% of Lions Gate [another target if Time Warner deal fail] which owns a Film and TV studio- franchises include Twilight, Hunger Games, Mad Men, OITNB- and Starz a competitor to HBO, Epix, Showtime.
Targets in merger fails are: Sony Pictures, Lions Gate and even AMC, Discovery, and Viacom (I see a hostile acquisition- AT&T buying a big stake like 20% in the open market even though the Redstones owns 80% of the votes with just 9% equity). AT&T have about $50 Billion in cash with them (not off shore like the Big Techs)
