*NEWB* Should I invest in a company that invested in a private company I like? (Alibaba / Magic Leap)

So Alibaba just invested 700 million in the the augmented reality company Magic Leap after Google invested 500 million. Without going into detail I think Magic Leap will be massive but have no way of investing directly as its a small private company. Would I be wise to then invest in Alibaba and Google? I'm a total NEWB and don't know a thing about investing but if Magic leap blows up will this most likely result in a rise of Alibaba /Google stock? Thanks for any help!
