Stock Watch: Why do some stocks have very high trading volumes and what can one infer from that ? (examples : BAC, AMD etc)

Hi Folks,

I've noticed some stocks such as BAC, AMD, MSFT, PFE etc. seem to have a consistently high trading volume and yet they don't seem to share any fundamental similarities.

What are the things one can infer from stocks that have high trading volumes ? Is it beneficial for stock and option traders to consider the high volume stock only ?
