Stock Watch: ELI5: If I think a market correction is coming, what should I invest in?

A Muni bond fund? Gold? GBP? JPY? I have a few thousand dollars in an online trading acct that I use for fun, but I'd still like to keep growing it thru what I think will be a down market?

Sorry if this is too generic of a question. I'm still somewhat new to the stock market and have gotten lucky thus far.
