This morning before market open I went all in on NYSE:BABA and the order filled at market open at $141.65 up almost 15% on the day before (prices I could see) and for a moment I thought id hit the jackpot before I watched it slip down and trigger my 3% stoploss for a total 3% loss for the day leaving me totally confused.
Im trying to understand what the hell happened, I gather its pre market trading but my broker only allows and shows me normal market hrs trading.
How can companies/people trade pre market? The lack of transparency seems sketchy, I couldn't see the pre market price before the market opened. A friend was also telling me that orders are ranked according to groups to be filled at open. Where can I learn more about all of this and what went wrong? Can someone suggest a book for a newbie which covers the mechanics of the market with regard to this subject.
