I am teacher and trying to advise a former student on how to start investing. My plan is to recommend starting a RothIRA, then choosing an index fund and then to start an automatic purchase on the same day every month. Does this sound like good advise?...and if so, where is the best place for a young adult with little cash to start a Roth...Ameritrade...Vanguard? Any recommendation on a solid index fund with a low buy in? Thanks!
