What is the REAL 52-wk high/low formula?

I've been looking at stock data for a work project and I'm having no luck finding a comprehensive breakdown of the 52-wk measurements (shockingly so). I've got a mountain of statistics and data frames and other formulas to throw at the data, but this simple data point is confounding me.

For example...

When considering a 520wk high, am I looking at the intraday high or the highest close? And most importantly, wtf constitutes 52 weeks ago today anyway? The highest price (intraday or close) in the last 52 calendar weeks counting the current week? Even if a mid-week measurement makes it less than a full 52 weeks (for example, if I measured today instead of EOD Friday? Are weeks with holiday blackouts or other reasons for suspended trade still counted as full weeks?

I'm sorry to bomb you guys with questions but I know y'all are generous with your knowledge and I simply cannot find an adequate breakdown anywhere online and, sadly, I know more about stocks than anyone else I know personally :(

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
