Why does it take brokers so long to handle mergers and reverse splits?

I have a stock, ENRJ, that just did a merger and reverse split. It took affect yesterday. I'm using Robin Hood and I haven't been able to trade this stock and it value is missing from my portfolio. Why does it take so long for them to complete the process?
