Common sense indicate you want your company to grow bigger, to earn as much money as possible.
So spinoff is counter-intuitive. Why?
And why it's prevalent in US culture? While in other places like Korea and Japan it's the opposite, where society is dominated by a few companies?
And is it a cultural shift? US in early 20th century also had conglomerates, did anti-trust killed off the "natural" tendency? If not for anti trust laws, would US corporate dominance today similar to Korea and Japan?
And why didn't Amazon spinoff AWS?
