What do you think about the rise of ETFs trading?

Apprentice investor here.

I just read this article from bloomberg ( http://ift.tt/2ip8ktA ) announcing that ETFs are more traded than individual stocks and when doing research I also found this article : http://ift.tt/2dFyBDf warning about the ETFs rise (dated january of last year).

What consequences/dangers can this phenomenon have on the market? Or is it maybe a good thing?
