Play the game, not the money...

...is a quote I often say. No doubt it's been used many traders over. I believe this mindset is the single most important factor when it comes to successful trading. It's marvelous to observe the varying personalities of pseudo traders, ego maniacs and narcissists roaming the internet, keeping up their image. But the bottom line is, are you playing the game?

Every trader that enters the market gets what they want out of it. The ego maniacs get their egos fed, similar to the narcissist who feasts on admiration. The pseudo trader talks quite a bit still doesn't know or understand the game. He may make some decent trades but soon enough, he will bust.

The pseudo trader has the best chance at becoming a successful trader because he can change. Less talking on what you know or what you think and more observing. Ask more questions. He has to monitor himself closely to make sure he is remaining balanced in his emotions and psyche. After that, experience will carry him to the next level where his risk and trading strategy slowly evolve. His mind is on performance based predominately on risk and profit factor.

At that point, you're managing a business which is the pinnacle of playing the game.
