I am 28 and started investing in the equity markets 4-5 years ago so I have only seen the bull run. However, I am trying to understand the pre and post dotcom era better and draw parallels with today's market. Trying to understand that period on the following lines -
- Was the euphoria around dotcom stocks as much as the euphoria around tech stocks these days ?
- Did companies with good business models make it through the crisis? I know a few big ones like Amazon, Google and co did, but what about a lot of others ?
- I am sure there were dotcom companies that posted fairly good/market beating results even during the crash. Did the stock price of these companies tank too and did such companies survive in the long run ?
- My guess is that a lot of the dotcom companies that went bust did not have any earnings. What kind of P/S levels were these companies trading at before the bust ?
I know my list of questions is not exhaustive enough and hence I need to read about the crisis more to understand different cycles better.
