Ascena retail stock has taken a huge dive over the last week (and year). A lot of the recent slide is being blamed on lack of communication from leadership about guidance, and the wait for 3rd quarter results.
What would be a potential motivation for management to not release affirmations of previous guidance in such a situation? Only that bad results are coming? Is there a reason a company would want to let their stock slide short term if they thought good results were going to be reported?
I'd be curious to hear what some more experienced investors think about this.
