Getting your returns audited for validity

Hello

Has anyone gone through the process of getting their returns audited? I have seen quoted figures of 10k$ to get returns audited, and while I am not hurting I am not eager to shell out 10k.

Any input would be appreciated and any firms you have experience with would be wonderful.

I am in nyc.
