Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 5/1/15

Hi everyone!

Well, today was a crappy day for me. No other way to put it really. I didn't lose much but I am pretty mad at myself! My plan last night on LPI was to buy $15.20-$15.30 for a run to $16-$16.30 with risk down to $15. I followed it exactly, buying into the morning panic at $15.22, and it fluctuated around $15.20 for quite a while as XLE found its footing. My mistake on this was like an idiot I TOOK IT OFF at $15.23 because I got impatient waiting for it to bounce! I told myself I would rebuy it lower but after I took it off I wanted it to crack $15 so I could buy it on the panic under $15 but it never did...it bounced off the lows and went red to green all the way from $15.05 to freakin' $16+! So that was a huge miss for me and there is no excuse for it other than I was too impatient and didn't follow my plan. This should have been a huge trade but it was worthless (literally) for the simple reason that I didn't follow my plan. So anyway that was a big fat miss...then I also kinda got the shaft on CCIH. I noticed the big volume spike at 10:30am and grabbed a small piece at $15.01 and was in profit for a brief moment, but then the volume just vanished and the stock tanked for some reason. It went pretty quick so I let it get away from me a bit as I was planning to stop at $14.74 but it kinda knifed right through that level and faceplanted, lol. I had a small position (per my rule to always account for scenarios like this on thin stocks) so I was able to take the pain and wait out the bounce to see if it would recover but I ended up taking it off at $14.55 for a loss. That was basically my whole day so it sucks because I had a perfect plan on LPI and nailed the entry on it and just got impatient waiting for it so I passed up a huge gain which would have made the loss on CCIH a tiny blip. I guess tomorrow I will focus heavily on following my plans...but we all make mistakes so I'm not too worried about it. I don't really get mad at myself for losses. I get mad at myself for breaking my rules and not following my plans which is what I did today so I am currently in time out. Haha oooook so anyway, I also added another 2k to CREG so now I have 5.2k shares at $1.11-ish average and plan to add more when it does finally break $1.14-1.15. Just watching for volume and waiting for the right time. All that said, crappy day, but I have no plans to surrender! Here's my plan for tomorrow:

EJ (long):

Beautiful daily flag that looks just about ready to break out and is also coiled into a very tight range intraday. That said I want to see this open exactly where it closed and push right out of the gate. Since this is in such a tight range I will be waiting for volume to pour in and watching level 2 to make sure I'm not just getting suckered in when it prints 100 shares at $6.82. My stop will be very tight, but will depend on how the stock opens. If it opens how I hope/expect, then my stop will be $6.75. Otherwise it may change.

SINA (short):

SINA is getting a bit extended on the daily chart so I'm looking for a push into weekly resistance at $45.00 to start shorting. If it gaps down I am not opposed to shorting pops but the reward to risk will be a bit lower since it can probably only pull back realistically to $42.80 or so before it bounces a little, so I want to make sure I take that into account when deciding where my stop loss will be. That said, ideally I can get a short $45+ on a parabolic morning push to let it get really extended, and will add once it becomes a winner and risk accordingly.

As usual my focus list is small. Here are my other potential ideas:

TCPI (long) - Still stalking for $4.00 breakout. High short interest and low float stock = lots of room to squeeze

VLTC (long) - Possible red to green play

CLDN (long) - Watching $2.75 for break toward $3.00

SYRX (long) - Nice volume expansion today. Possible continuation upwards over $2.40

RMGN (long) - Bounce potential over $1.55

SVU (long) - Still watching for bounce on the daily chart. It seemed to find its footing a bit today so maybe over $8.90 with risk to $8.73

CLNE (short) - Possible parabolic short if it can get to $10+ or set up a nice topping pattern intraday

CCIH (long) - Beautiful flag on the daily...watching for breakout

MCHX (long) - Breakout area over $4.68 (thanks Sandman!)

RMBS (long) - Flagging on the daily but might need a few more days. I'd like to see it coil up under $14.25 so it will be a little lower risk and not in such a wide range

IPCI (long) - Watching $3.15 for breakout. Thin stock so trade accordingly

Hope everyone had a nice day! Let me know if you have any questions

Chris

Help with a School Project regarding stocks.

At my school we are doing a project where we have $1000 invisible dollars and get to buy shares from a predetermined list of stocks, and at the end of the project whoever makes the most money wins a substantial prize(no one knows what exactly it is) I invest my 1000 in 59 shares of YRCW at 16.76 each. Last week on friday when I checked they went up to 17.17 each. I checked now and they are like $15.XX. Why is the price of the stock going down so much? Do you think the stock will go back up or should I sell the stocks to invest in others? Any help or suggestions etc are appreciated. For reference I am in 8th Grade this is a SS project on Economics.

Cheap JBLU today

Wish I heard about the rally earlier. How high is this thing going to go? Down 3% today... I see it as discount JBLU $JBLU get it while you can... at the same time what did you expect if you bought yesterday an all time high. I did hear from a lot of consumers recently that this was an amazing airline, thus undervalued on the market. How high is this thing going to go - thanks in advance.

Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 4/30/15

Hey hey!

Hope everyone had a nice day! I sat around for most of the day cause there was nothing I was really that excited about but I did take a few trades. I took NES from my list on the push through $4.00 but it couldn't get through $4.30 so I took it off at $4.15. Also I sold my NYMX from yesterday flat, took a small 5c loss on GBSN and longed some CNTF at $1.14 to see if it could break the 200dma. It didn't but it actually held up so I decided to hold overnight and will probably sell into a morning spike. Lastly I sold my MBLX swing for a small loss from $0.82 and swapped that money plus some more into 3200 CREG for a swing. Energy names seem to be heating up (harr harr, stock puns!) so I could see this and some other energy names (including NES) taking off soon. So basically it was just a small gain on NES today and everything else just kind of flat or cleaning up old positions, so not a huge day but green is green. I have some nice ones for tomorrow:

TCPI (long):

Nice daily flag developing and extremely low float stock with over 32% short interest. The huge drop back in February was due to the announcement of some claim against the company for "misconduct" by the CEO. Then on 4/15 they announced that the CEO will not be renewing his contract so he's gone in June...it seems like that news has provided some relief for investors even without knowing what the "misconduct" was or the validity of the claim. So that said, if this pushes over $4 it could really squeeze since it has such high short interest and less than 2m shares in the float. So I'll be looking for it to hold the $3.85ish support from today and will go long on any hint of strength that could send it through $4 and start a squeeze. Risk will be to under that $3.85 support with a target of $4.50+.

LPI (long):

A lot of energy names look great for tomorrow and XLE (energy ETF) is trying to break into a gap up to $85.00 so if XLE breaks out and runs then all these energy names will take off as well. I'd like to see a pullback to $15.20-$15.30 on LPI to get long with risk to around $15.00 and a target of $16-$16.30.

Per my usual plan I'm going to keep my focus list small and direct in order to keep strong conviction on the names I like. I'm also watching CREG to add more if it starts pushing and keeping an eye on my DCIX swing...if it doesn't bounce off $2.40 I will take it off. Here are my other ideas:

NES (long) - Watching for a continuation through $4.20 highs from today

CLNE (short) - Possible parabolic short if it can get to $10+ or set up a nice topping pattern intraday

CCIH (long) - Beautiful flag on the daily...watching for breakout

GBSN (long) - Tried this at $4.49 today but it couldn't get through $4.50. I could see it spike through $4.50 in the morning

LNCO (long) - Another energy name to watch for upward momentum if XLE takes off. Pattern is a bit sloppy so no specific plan yet

MCHX (long) - Breakout area over $4.68 (thanks Sandman!)

LODE (long) - Watching $0.83 for breakout

RMBS (long) - Flagging on the daily but might need a few more days. I'd like to see it coil up under $14.25 so it will be a little lower risk and not in such a wide range

IPCI (long) - Watching $3.15 for breakout. Thin stock so trade accordingly

That's it! Let me know if you have any questions

Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 4/29/15

Hey y'all!

Sorry about missing my post last night, I was teaching til 11:30pm since I was working w/ someone on the west coast. That said I've had a pretty hot start to the week so far! Monday was a bit slow since most of my trades just came back to break even since I was a little too greedy on profits, but today was pretty nice! I short EGRX in the morning at $54.93 and covered $53.66 and $52.73 which was my big winner. Then I took a small scalp on AMCO, short at $1.76 and covered at $1.66 on the parabolic push intraday. I did take a small loss on IPCI from $3.10 to $3.00 but it was just way too thin to even mess with today. I do think this will be hot when it breaks over $3.15 though so I am willing to try a few times for losses in order to get the timing right. I also started a swing in MBLX at $0.82 (also going to be doing an awesome blog post about high frequency trading based on this trade!) and on Monday I started a swing on DCIX at $2.65 anticipating the $2.70 breakout so I'm holding that for a big push once it gets moving. So anyway, so far so good! Here's my plan for tomorrow:

NES (long):

This stock has been trying to get over $4.00 for ages and seems to finally be ready to do it. I'm watching for any sign of strength with big volume through $4.00 with a stop in the mid $3.80s. I will take profits relatively quickly on the first trade and then look for it to develop a trend where I will start buying dips and ride it up, hopefully through $4.30 to where it can really get moving. If this gets some legs I can see it easily hitting $5.00.

NYMX (long):

I started into this mid-day today and was planning to just treat it as a day trade but it held the support all day and closed right where I bought it basically so I figured why not hold overnight and see if it will push in the morning. If it gets some juice in the morning it could pop through $1.35 and shoot up to $1.55-1.60. My stop is right under today's consolidation at $1.28 and will stay there even if I add more.

SVU (long):

It looks like SVU is down heavily today on negative earnings news however it's also down 12 days in a row and knifed through the 200 day moving average so I could see it doing a little relief bounce at the very least. So I don't have a specific price in mind where I want this to bounce but I feel it could be anywhere in this area between $9.50 and $9.25 so I will be watching those areas for potential strength. I'll be looking for it to develop higher lows and play it with risk against the lows whenever it forms them, and will edge in small at first since I may need to buy a few times to get a good average and find the bottom.

That's it for my focus list. I sold my CMCM swing from a while ago for a tiny gain since I figure the market and China were both weakening so I could get it lower. I may or may not rebuy, but anyway here are my "back burner" ideas:

WUBA (short) - Possible green to red. Stock is very extended

ALSK (short) - Stock is getting pretty parabolic. Watching for a blowoff top toward $2.45-2.50 to start short. Might need to swing this since it's kind of a slow mover

Thanks everyone! Let me know if you have any questions

Chris

Coming into some money. Where to invest?

Hi guys, big fan of this sub, mostly a lurker so this is my first post. Anyway,

This summer I'll be working my ass off and should have about ~$5k after two months. I'm hoping to invest anywhere from $500 to $1k for some long term gains. What I'm asking from you guys is: what do you think is a safe bet? Im in no rush, but don't want a too hefty stock price. So should I bet on a company like overstock.com or should I be looking at some Chinese stocks perhaps (I don't know much about those). I've heard good things about biotech stocks as well so maybe I should look there? Any suggestions you guys have as to what sector I should dedicate my limited research time to would be extremely helpful. Not asking y'all to invest for me lol.

Thanks in advance! Hope this makes for some good discussion about long term stocks also.

Your thoughts on IPO flipping?

Hey guys, I've been wondering lately if investing on an IPO and then selling it when realizing gains, is a viable option to make money in the stock market game. And I'm not talking about buying any random stock at the opening price, because that would be taking a shot in the dark. For instance, Xbiotech launched about a week ago. I did some research and I liked the company's business plans and their involvement in the new biopharmaceutical industry. It opened at 17 a share, and three days later it was at 34 I believe. I made about 4,000 playing around with a stock trainer app but I'm not sure how often these opportunities appear. My inquiry revolves around these questions, to cut to the chase. How difficult is it to aquire an IPO a couple of hours after it launches? Is IPO flipping a viable method to make sizeable profits? How risky is investing in an IPO? Are IPOs more likely to trend downwards or upwards in their first month? Thanks!

Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 4/24/15

Hey guys and girls! I'm taking most of the day off tomorrow so I'm just gonna throw up a quick watchlist and call it a night. I was a bit red today and I can kinda feel my week getting sloppy since SPY is at all time highs, so I'm gonna keep the profits I have and take an early weekend! My losses today were pretty basic...I have a swing in CMCM now from $23.61 and I tried to day trade it from $23.86 when it tried to break $24, but I was a little too aggressive on the size so I stopped out at $23.55 on the day trade, but I did hold the swing which made up for most of the loss. Also I took a small loss on MBLY from $47.87 to $47.71 and a flat trade on BIOS. I just couldn't really get any juice today! I did start a new swing in SPHS at $0.8398 and it closed nicely so I'm thinking that might take off tomorrow, and I plan to try BIOS again. Oh, one last trade...I sold the last of my CYRN swing from $3.15 at $3.19 since it started to look a little weak and I just wanted to avoid the day going downhill and lock in some profits. So honestly that will probably go higher but, meh, whatever. Always another opportunity around the corner and I did get a third of the position out at $3.30 anyway so that was hot!

So anyway, I lost like 100 bucks, no biggie. So far this week has been amazing as I was up huge on Monday and Tuesday, and had a small gain yesterday, but it's one of those things where you can just feel it going downhill, big gain Monday, smaller Tuesday, smaller Wed, now red today...it's a recipe for blowing all my week's gains since Friday is typically my weakest day anyway, lol...so I shall prevent it and go to the beach and do some self reflection or blog post from the beach or something! Ocean therapy always clears away all the crap/stress from trading, blogging and teaching and refreshes me! I do it once in a while and I feel a little guilty being like 15 min from the ocean and not having gone to the beach in like 6 months, lol. Alrighty, all that said, here are my basic ideas for tomorrow:

I'm still watching SPHS for that .85 break. IBIO also still looking good and creeping up over $1.00...I think over $1.10 this can really move so I'm still holding my lotto shares from $0.78 and going for a home run. I might add more if it looks good tomorrow. BIOS watching for the $5.35 break still. AVP closed at $8.99 so that could be a quick move through $9 in the morning though I wanted it much lower and just haven't really been paying attention to it so I'll probably leave it alone. Lastly I really like CCO over $11.40 but Iw ill only take it if it has a big volume spike since I just want to be in and out and not sitting here all day waiting for it, and UEC is getting pretty parabolic, so a gap up over $2.50 could be a nice short to start the day and be done by 9:45am.

So that's it! Just gonna see how the morning looks and unless everything goes perfectly I will be taking off very early ... or I may not trade at all, lol. We shall see, but don't expect any guidance or alerts from me on Twitter tomorrow since I will be disconnected from the world!

Hope everyone has a nice day :)

Chris

Flextronics International (FLEX) is a strong buy, thoughts?

Value and growth. What am I missing here?

Huge sales yield of 373% (revenue/market cap) , P/E of 14, price-book of 3, AND it's got momentum, gained over 40% in the last 6 months. With 7 EPS beats in a row, we have no reason not to anticipate another upcoming beat next Wednesday. Even with all of this growth, the stock still has value.

Thoughts?

Jefferies upgrades TWC because they think we are idiots

Todays headlines on TWC:

Time Warner Cable was upgraded to "buy" from "hold" by Jefferies, citing the higher likelihood of a merger deal being struck between the company and Comcast. Jefferies also raised its price target from $190 to $193.

Oh really?

Then why is it that nearly every single news article and outlet out there is saying the exact opposite?

Jefferies is just trying to unload a long position that is probably red.

Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 4/23/15

Hey y'all! so I was told I should try to only link my blog every once in a while so I'll oblige. Just doing the post directly here for now and I'll link the blog every now and then. If you want pretty formatting I guess you'll have to go to the blog cause I'm not doing this twice every night, lol ... anyway here ya go!

Decent day for me today but not as big as the last couple. I took CRNT from my list at $1.26 and sold at $1.35. Then again later in the day I tried it again at $1.40 but it wouldn't take out the high so I sold at $1.38 at the end of day for a small loss. Also I shorted XXII in pre-market at $1.62 and covered in the opening candle at $1.50. I was honestly hoping this would crack more but it just got stuck so I left it alone and just kept that starter profit. I also took a couple of small losses, BIOS from $5.30 to $5.23 and LIVE from $3.30 to $3.20. LIVE was kind of a stupid trade and I just reacted emotionally to a little volume spike so that was a wasted 10 cent loss, but oh well. Lastly I sold my LEI swing in Robinhood from $0.2450 at $0.2043 so I took a small loss on that and now am all cash in my Robinhood account and waiting for the next opportunity. So far the account is up 32.9% from when I opened it in the beginning of March so awesome return so far. Anyway, overall a good day. Here are my plans for tomorrow:

SPHS (long):

Seems to be holding the previous $0.84 breakout level nicely. It has a nice volume expansion yesterday and today was just consolidating in the center of yesterday's range which is typical right before a breakout. I'm watching for any volume to push it through the $0.85 level to push it back toward $0.91 and possibly $1.00 if it gets a lot of volume. Eventually this will take hold and has the potential to squeeze over $1.15 to $1.60-1.75, but it will probably take a few more tries to get that crazy. As long as it holds this same consolidation area from today, a push through $0.85 can be bought with a stop at $0.81.

FENG (long):

Nice flag right under a big daily area at $7.28. I'm watching for this to break the intraday consolidation with volume and push through $7.30 to hit a $7.50+ target. If it can open flat then risk can be to just $7.19 or so, but if you want to be more liberal you could give it to under $7.10 and go for a higher target. I's like to keep it as tight as possible since $7.50 will be tough to get through.

My focus list is very small today but I do have a few others that I like...just not enough to make detailed plans for them. Here they are:

CMCM (long) - Flagging on the daily and was flagging under $23.80 intraday. over 80% short interest according to Finviz, so this could become an epic squeeze

CYTR (short) - Seemed to be having trouble getting over $5.50 weekly highs. Any pops toward $5.30-5.50 (or gap ups) can be shorted

CRNT (long) - Possible red to green through $1.42 for continuation to $1.50-1.60

BIOS (long) - Watching $5.35 level for flag breakout on the daily

AVP (long) - Still watching for $8.85ish breakout

XXII (short) - Parabolic short if it can't hold over $1.50

YNDX, MBLY (long) - Flagging on the daily

MDXG (short) - Dead cat bounce on the daily and started to roll over today. Could continue down under today's low, so shorting pops is ok

LBIO (long) - Big daily flag starting to break out. Looks like this can get a little wild so be careful

SAGE (short) - Smooth down trend intraday all day today. Watching for a push back into the trend (maybe $60) to short for break back to $56 or so

SEED (long) - Nice daily, flagging right under the 200dma at $1.70. Any volume through that area can be longed for push to $1.90-2+

CCO (long) - Explosive looking flag over weekly highs. Watching for a continuation over $11.40-11.50

One more little note: SPY is pretty much pegged at resistance so be very skeptical of any breakouts. I am starting to lean more into shorts for when SPY starts to roll over. right now, I'm preparing for both scenarios but just a heads up...I think a pullback could be coming soon even if we do break over $211. Ok that's it! Hope everyone had a nice day!

Chris

Made some coin off my watchlists? Say thanks!

Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 4/22/15

Yo yo! Awesome day again today. Just two simple trades for me. I added 5k more APPY in premarket at .54 and sold at .61 and .65 so that was a pretty sweet gain, plus sold the 500 I had in my robinhood account at .64. Also I took DRRX long from 1.95 to 2.10 and plan to rebuy tomorrow if it continues. Probably still has room to go to 2.30 and had a huge 3m share block trade today so someone may know something.

Here are the details http://ift.tt/1bhDZXb and my plans for tomorrow. Let me know if ya have any questions!

After a week of asking, Final Update Complete. Why should the price of oil climb from current levels? See if you can come up with a reason that has been covered...I dare you ;)

This post has now become over the size limit (so this is last update), I had to edit out some redundant arguments. I would still appreciate reasons that you see oil climbing, because with everything so far, I seem pretty sure it is going to find a new low.

This is the best supporting answer that I have got, thanks /r/whatdoiwantsk

USD rally + OPEC not cutting = oil prices crash. That's pretty much all there is to it. Either or especially both of those change, and we'll see a reversal.

These are the arguments that I was replied to with on why oil should climb, and my responses:

OPEC controls the market/r/drunkenstarcraft

OPEC used to be the say all end all to oil. Their problem is very transparent now though. If they artificially inflate prices, they will lose market share to people who can produce oil at those higher prices. They have very cheap oil, and the only thing they can do is produce more of that cheap oil to hamper foreign production...but at the same time they are trying to keep prices inflated while pumping and selling as much oil as they can. They simply don't have as much power as they used to....because they don't have an option like they used to.

No I insist, OPEC controls the market because if they say they are going to cutback production, the price will jump /r/staticchange

I think you are half right. If they said we're dropping production, yes prices would skyrocket....right along with everyone else's production, and then we would have a supply glut...kind of like right now. The thing is...they can't say they are decreasing production...and they don't want to say they are increasing...but they are.

Oil is too big to fail /r/letthebasskick

So your best argument is that oil is too big to fail? The government is going to bail out oil companies if they go belly up? I think growth and profits accelerate when the price of energy comes down...I would think consolidation in the oil industry would just lead to organic economic growth...rather than a disaster. It would be a disaster to people who have invested too heavily in oil.

"because we depend on it", "oil is king", "energy density" /r/hokaythxbai, oh and corn...just fucking corn http://redd.it/32tiu1

not going to reply, unless you insist

My own argument - The dollar could be on the decline

The problem is still there if the dollar inflates price...we have a supply glut. If the value of the dollar decreases, and oil continues to climb, it becomes economical for a lot of wells to come back online, and production will ramp, and at the same time, if prices are up, then demand will most likely go down. I suppose we could lift the export band at that point (or any point), but then what do you think OPEC will do?...not stop drilling and losing customers, that is for sure.

Rig count /r/hexmasta

http://ift.tt/1HnH2d1

Jaffe put the break-even prices for oil production at $37 in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas and the Bakken formation in North Dakota, $48 for the Permian Basin in West Texas and eastern New Mexico, and $43 for the Mississippi Lime in Oklahoma and Kansas.

http://ift.tt/1EbLAUq

There are roughly 2,500 to 3,500 drilled but uncompleted oil wells in the United States, according to analysts at IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS). As many as 1,400 of those wells are located in the Eagle Ford shale play in south Texas.

What do you think rig count is going to do if oil goes up?

Oh and plus, there are a lot of wells that still have to be completed by law...

http://ift.tt/1OQ7jms

Wells must be completed within one year of being drilled by state law. More than 100 wells will hit that deadline in June.

Demand is going to increase /r/staticchange

This is highly speculative, and loses weight as prices increase...and in my opinion a little ignorant considering the current oversupply. I don't think that demand has had its run and is over. I think that the control over the price of oil has had its run, and is now over. Production and demand are going to dictate prices, not so much politics and geology.

Iran deal is going to fall through /r/norcon

Probably, maybe not. Doesn't change the fact that they are increasing production and still have outlets to sell their oil.

Everyone including Goldman Sachs say oil will fall to new lows, I do the opposite /r/vixgdx, /r/sharked...others

This pisses me off that I have to add this, but apparently a lot of people agree (which in itself is funny). Ok...so all the info available, and the people familiar with the situation are expecting the price of oil to go down...so naturally you are a genius contrarian investor that is about to make a killing. So that means you must have bought WTI when it was in the $40's, and when everyone was scared it would keep going down (like all the info suggest). Now what? Oil is up about 30% from that low...when people were being "greedy". You think oil is going to just keep shooting up? How much more? 40%, 50%, 220%? If you are buying up oil now, I would say you're jumping on a retard fueled band wagon, you are not being greedy, you are not being a contrarian investor, you are being a fucktard (if this is your'e only argument). You might be able to make an argument about being greedy when oil goes back down to the $40 range, but I think I'm going to wait for more like the low $30. Also, I think the fact this same post got down voted to 0 in /r/stocks proves my point as well.

Not to mention there are still emerging markets where oil will become a necessity on top of the fact that the population of the world is not diminishing. It's expanding exponentially/r/cod3r__

Silly thing about humanity is that we evolve, technology evolves, infrastructure for emerging markets evolve. I completely agree that demand will increase. Emerging markets will grow...even faster with cheap energy. Renewable energy will still keep growing faster. Can you imagine how much different the world will be once we can harness fusion power? Anyhow, daily dependence on oil will decrease over time. And, we add about 1 billion people every 15 years...since about 1960, not exactly exponential (thanks for making me look that up.)

Another conflict will spill over some borders in the Middle East /r/arKK

This is probably the best argument I have got yet, and one that I'm fairly ill equipped to argue. I can say that it is highly speculative, but not really far fetched. I do feel like bringing an end to the control over oil could help the middle east get together for the better good of their nations to export as much oil as they can, but I feel like I should slap myself for saying that.

a discovery completely undermining the estimated reserves left /r/arKK

again, very speculative for near term, but not far fetched...and something we should be expecting in the future, but how far into the future...who knows. I do know we are growing less dependent on oil, and are moving towards renewables, plus technology evolves. Since we are being speculative, I pose this question...What happens to the world once humanity figures out how to harness fusion power?...there will be a lot of people who will give a lot less fucks about oil when that happens (and we are very close).

Wait, back to OPEC...As far as OPEC goes, they have to do something. At the current price point, OPEC by majority is not happy./r/KU76

Very true. In order for a large portion of OPEC to remain fiscal balance, oil needs to be higher....how much higher?....ridiculously higher. According to Thomsan Reuters it starts at ~$58 for Qatar, and ends at ~$136 for Iran.

Why? Because it's not a private business over there. Fiscal breakeven pays for a majority of their "government" expenditures....including subsidies and royal privileges. The cost that it actually takes them to produce a barrel of oil is actually the cheapest on earth. They have been so used to relying on oil production, and having the ability to manipulate the market, that they have grown very used to making a very wide margin. The profits from oil in Saudi Arabia account for ~80% of what the "government" spends....which is why on the above Thompsan Reuters chart, it says their breakeven is ~$93.

http://ift.tt/1G8S06W

So, it's funny that they are increasing production. Why?...to drive out U.S. shale. But wait, how long are they going to be able to do that for? Not very, even though they have massive reserves, they also have massive expenditures...a few years probably at best. This is where I get speculative, and what this half tard thinks is going on. The thing is, is that this is a bit of an economic war that is going on. Guess who is good at war...and economics? There is a bit of chess going on right now. Shale put OPEC in check. OPEC's only option is to adjust. There is a lot of corruption, a lot of waist, a lot of arrogance...that just got put into check. So it's their move. From the looks of things, I would say they are hell bent on applying the pressure back on Shale...which will work (hasn't quite yet)...but, (I believe at least) it will drive out some competition for a bit...no, not forever. They are going to have to diversify their economies....which is a good thing. Saudi Arabia has openly admitted to this, as well as Putin...and they have been working on it. So, what am I saying? What I have been saying, supply and demand are going to dictate the price of oil....not so much politics and geology. Right now we are oversupplied, and that is going to get worse...for now.

why would OPEC shoot themselves in the foot to regain market share from US Shale, that will just as quickly be lost? Possibly the U.S. hired OPEC to drop oil prices to put the hurt on Russia for the whole Ukraine/Crimea situation last year, which comes with the added benefit of boosting the US economy. /r/KU76

I have been beating my head to understand how Russia ties into all this...I've been especially curious as to the recent deviation the Ruble has taken from the price of oil. Most recent signs say that Russia's economy is on the rebound...which doesn't make a whole lot of since in my book. If there are some behind the scenes maneuvering going on, I would say that Russia is doing really good at withstanding it so far, and that gives me more reason to suspect that this June meeting will maintain the current course, until some hurt starts really getting applied to where it is intended to be directed, be it shale or Russia.

Also, the majority of new discoveries are shale, deepwater or tar sands. These all need oil around $100 to be viable. /r/the_ultravixens

http://ift.tt/1HnH2d1 Jaffe put the break-even prices for oil production at $37 in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas and the Bakken formation in North Dakota, $48 for the Permian Basin in West Texas and eastern New Mexico, and $43 for the Mississippi Lime in Oklahoma and Kansas.

oil sands

Breakeven costs for existing projects such as Kearl Phase 1 stand at US$42 per barrel, with Husky’s Lloydminster (US$28), Cenvous’ Christina Lake ($26) and Suncor operations (US$30.3), all comfortably below WTI’s current price of US$46 per barrel, Citibank data shows.

Deepwater

the average breakeven oil price needed for new deepwater Gulf of Mexico developments in early stages of construction is between $65 and $75 per barrel. That “breakeven” implies a long-term annualized 10% return on capital.

Now, there was a lot more money being thrown at all these projects when oil was over $100, and I do agree that there will be a lot less investment if oil stays, or decrease...but like a said, there has already been significant investment in projects to keep supply climbing for the next several years.

If you look at the finances of the shale drillers, nobody was running a positive cashflow at $100 per barrel, so there is simply no way that breakevens are $45 outside of the most prolific core areas. /r/the_ultravixens

I believe we agree that the most costly oil is deepwater...so I looked up Seadrill's EPS from Q1 '14, and it was $1.58...they most certainly were making money.

Wind and solar provide around 1% of global energy, and it's all in the form of electricity. They currently do not fuel aeroplanes, trucks, boats or combine harvesters. In the timescales we're discussing (up to maybe 5-10 years max) they are irrelevant. /r/the_ultravixens

You are right here, they are still in their infancies. This section is growing very quickly. The technology is growing, the infastucture is growing, and the efficiency is growing. I think it will still be ~3 decades before we are running off renewable energy...I'm hoping for sooner, but we will most certainly have enough oil to make it

Stocks that close lower than previous close

True or false: These stocks (on average) increase more the following day than those that closed higher than previous close

I don't have enough data yet, but so far it seems to be the case. The opposite seems true for shorts. Of course, I'm also factoring in whether or not it's a favorable time period in which to hold the stock (whatever that means).

Criticisms appreciated. ty

Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 4/21/15

Hey guys and girls! Here is my review from today and plan for tomorrow: http://ift.tt/1GcBAYr

Definitely a fun day for me and I started a new swing in my Robinhood which is posted over at /r/1krobinhood project. I'm stalking JOEZ for an entry soon over $0.20 or $0.21...just want to see some volume on it as I think this can make a huge run back to $0.30 or higher so if it starts to show some strength I will grab a bunch in my Robinhood account since it's super cheap!

Thanks to those who were part of more than 500 plays on my fundamentals video on its very first day. I put a ton of time into that getting the recording just right, content simplified and straightforward and setting it all up just to give it away, so it's awesome to see it getting such a freakin sweet response. Please feel free to spread it around and share it with friends/family who want to get into the stock market and thanks again!

Hope everyone had a nice day

Chris

4/20 Daytrading Watchlist

4/20 watchlist

THCZ is a weed OTC stock. Lets be honest, is being uber hyped right now (and has been for quite some time). It also really held the .24 mark very well. Looking for a green to red washout. Will be keeping a huge eye on that .24 mark to hold. It is also 4/20 so I am actually not sure how a weed stock is going to move on that day (if it has any mental impact at all).

SPPR I anticipating a weak open, Red to green move rip up over 3. Will be shorting parabolic moves and the back side of the move. Obviously if 3 does hold I will go short risking off that mark.

VLTC I will just go short when the stock shows serious weakness with a lot of downside. Really have to trade this stock reactively.

GBSN I would like to see a weak open, red to green move over 4.2. Now if the stock is not able to hold 4, I will short risking off that mark.

CHOP Will not die. I will only short a grinding move with a solid downtrend, similar to AMCN.

AMCN I will only short if the stock starts to grind in a downward trend. I honestly do not like how this stock trades, similar to vltc.

Stocks I'm watching tomorrow, 4/20/15

Hey all!

I'm back in action with a new username and will continue to bother the admins to see if they will unban my other one but if not at least I can post my lists again and update the Robinhood project. Had a pretty nice week last week although my win rate could have been better and I got a little flustered w/ the gap down on Friday and took some losses on my swings, but oh well. Here are the details and my plan for next week: http://ift.tt/1Jl5Bpf

Also if there is anyone BRAND NEW I would definitely recommend you check out the free fundamentals class I just uploaded! I'd love to see it become the "go to" guide for people who are brand new and don't know where to go to start trading. I tried to design it based on the questions that a brand new person would have and it should walk them through the whole process from learning what a stock is, to opening a trading account and then learning about the different order types, picking a stock and making their first trade. Hopefully y'all like it and let me know if you would add anything else and I will create an addendum of additional info to go with it!

Thanks, hope everyone had a nice weekend :)

Info on continuing to follow Greenbar Trading

Hi guys/girls,

I'm here. Been lurking and trying to see if the admins will unban my old account but it looks like they are refusing. I PM'd proof to multiple admins (screenshots of PMs from badbaseball) of him admitting to deliberately trolling /r/stocks "because it's fun" and also admitting to using multiple user accounts while complaining to me about the very thing that he lied to the admins about which got me banned (that someone is "targeting him" and downvoting all his posts), and him apologizing to me for trolling, in an attempt to get them to see the truth but I guess they believe his lies. I'm not going to get into a debate over what's true/not true because I just don't have the time or really care what he does anymore but I will say to those of you who trust me that I only ever downvoted posts that I believed were providing faulty information based on my 10+ years of trading experience, posts that I felt could cost people money if they followed the advice or posts that I knew were straight up lies (for example him saying that he shorted this or that when I know the broker he uses and know for a fact that they didn't have shares to borrow because I have accounts with the same broker). It's not my fault if that was basically every post he made. As we can see in other threads, even without me here his posts are still getting downvoted so it clearly is not just me and I do not have multiple accounts, never did and never will (well, except now since I am forced to, lol). Anyway I believe that most people know who to trust at this point so I will leave it at that, and since apparently we are not allowed to upvote/downvote to ensure that quality content is posted here without getting banned, I will no longer upvote or downvote anything.

It really sucks that I've lost multiple years of work on my real account, building it up in terms of credibility, doing AMAs and building tons of karma by posting quality content all because of a big lie (or maybe simple misbelief/misunderstanding) by one user who showed up here just a few months ago, but I did it once and I will do it again so whatever. Of course since I just created this new account and am admitting that it's me there's a chance this account will also be banned, so I'm gonna tell everyone now that if they want to continue to follow my watchlists/trading ideas they can do so at my website at www(dot)greenbartrading(dot)com(slash)blog. You can also follow me on Twitter at www(dot)twitter(dot)com(slash)ckz8780 and I'd encourage you to do that as I post my watchlists there every night and also provide updates/trading ideas during the day while the market is open. Additionally I'm going to make this account a moderator over at my other subreddit /r/1krobinhoodproject so I can keep that alive. I tried to post my updates from the last couple days from my greenbartrading account but apparently I am shadowbanned or something and it's Reddit-wide so I can't update it from that account anymore. I will try to do it from this one.

In the future I may create my own subreddit if there continues to be animosity in this one, but honestly if this is going to become a problem I will probably just stop using Reddit. I'm a successful trader and have a business to run so I don't have time for these petty antics. I posted here for free to help grow my business and also to help newer traders get a handle on what it's like to do this as a full time job and I've been here for multiple years doing the same thing and have never had this kind of a problem. I wish the admins would do what's right: unban my real account and eliminate the real problem, but if they won't then there's nothing I can do about it and I'm not going to lose sleep over it. At the end of the day I make my money from trading, not posting watchlists on Reddit so if I'm driven away from Reddit by these shenanigans then oh well; it's not the end of the world.

Anyway bottom line is I am hoping that this account can stay active and all this BS can just end. If somehow my other account gets unbanned then I will start using that one again but I think it's gone for good. Since I'm not sure if I can respond to PMs on it, any additional questions you guys have about my trading style, hiring me as a mentor, or whatever can be emailed to info(at)greenbartrading(dot)com, posted as a comment on my blog or even tweeted at me on Twitter, in case this account gets banned and I'm forced out of Reddit for good or something.

One last thing: Thank you to Cy (/u/bigbear0083) and Gil (/u/StockJock-e) for trying to help get my original account unbanned. It means a lot to have two long-time moderators from this sub back up the legitimacy of my content and try to assist. If one of you guys wouldn't mind locking this post and removing any responses that come in before you get to it I'd appreciate it just to keep the drama out. I just wanted to give everyone the info on how to keep following me since I know that I have a pretty big following here on Reddit and I hate to just disappear and leave y'all hanging! Moving forward I'll just block badbaseball as I had done at least a month ago and ignore his posts in an attempt to try to alleviate this problem. It's up to you guys to decide who to trust.

Anyway, back to trading! I'll jump over and update /r/1krobinhoodproject in a bit!

Thanks, and sorry again for all the drama. Let's all be friends, k?

Chris

Can anybody give me a good reason why the price of oil should continue to climb?

So far I have been replied to with:

OPEC controls the market -

OPEC used to be the say all end all to oil. Their problem is very transparent now though. If they artificially inflate prices, they will lose market share to people who can produce oil at those higher prices. They have very cheap oil, and the only thing they can do is produce more of that cheap oil to hamper foreign production...but at the same time they are trying to keep prices inflated while pumping and selling as much oil as they can. They simply don't have as much power as they used to....because they don't have an option like they used to.

No I insist, OPEC controls the market because if they say they are going to cutback production, the price will jump

I think you are half right. If they said we're dropping production, yes prices would skyrocket....right along with everyone else's production, and then we would have a supply glut...kind of like right now. The thing is...they can't say they are decreasing production...and they don't want to say they are increasing...but they are.

Oil is too big to fail

So your best argument is that oil is too big to fail? The government is going to bail out oil companies if they go belly up? I think growth and profits accelerate when the price of energy comes down...I would think consolidation in the oil industry would just lead to organic economic growth...rather than a disaster. It would be a disaster to people who have invested too heavily in oil.

"because we depend on it", "oil is king", "energy density", oh and corn...just fucking corn http://redd.it/32tiu1

not going to reply, unless you insist

My own argument - The dollar could be on the decline

well semitard that is a good argument, why thank you semitard, but the problem is still there if the dollar inflates price...we have a supply glut.

Rig count

http://ift.tt/1HnH2d1

Demand is going to increase

This is highly speculative, and loses weight as prices increase...and in my opinion a little ignorant considering the current oversupply. I don't think that demand has had its run and is over. I think that the control over the price of oil has had its run, and is now over. Production and demand are going to dictate prices, not so much politics and geology.

Iran deal is going to fall through

Probably, maybe not. Doesn't change the fact that they are increasing production and still have outlets to sell their oil.

How often should I close a trade?

So I've recently gotten into day trading, almost as a hobby. However, I'm not sure if I'm trading correctly. I tend to close a trade, at most, 1 hour after I have purchased the item. Say I went long on a trade, if it were to go short, I'd close the trade ASAP. Is this worth doing, or should I investigate trends more in order to see if it's going to go back up, higher than my purchasing price?

Shanghai stock exchange was only the seventh largest only six months ago, so how is it the third biggest behind the Nasdaq and NYSE?

Six months ago, the Shanghai Exchange had a market capitalisation of less than $3 trillion dollar. Now it has reached $5.4 trillion dollar, according to its website, compared to Japan Stock Exchange of $4 trillion dollar.

However, if we include the Shenzen Stock Exchange (which was the ninth largest in world six months ago), now with a value of $3.2 trillion dollar in market capitalization.

Adding both the Shanghai and Shenzen exchanges together, the Chinese stock exchange has a combined stock market capitalization of $8.6 trillion dollar, making it the second biggest, behind the U.S.

4/17 Watchlist (no blog)

4/17 Watchlist

I am going to try out a classic thing I used to do. I basically list the most probable outcomes of tomorrow and what I would do. It is similar to how I make watchlists now, just a bit less specific. Let me know if you guys like this style better!

CHOP- Is a low float pennystock that is extremely overextended. I will by no means long this stock. I am looking for a nice weak open, bounce off of 4 to a strong red to green move. I like the stock to parabolic to the 4.50 mark, hopefully putting in highs and will make for a great short. If the stock cannot hold 4, I will go short risking off that mark as there is likely big upside. Will be shorting fades and parabolic moves, not buying.

REN- Looking for a weak open. Red to green move. I will be buying (gasp) dips as long as it holds the 1.3 mark! If the stock gets ahead of itself I will be looking to get on the short side (parabolic move out of the gate).

ZBB- is light on volume but I will attempt to trade it anyway. Ideally the stock tests 1 and fails right out the gate. I am anticipating it to fade on the day after if fails.

SZYM- will be using 4.4 as a guide to either: get long risking off it, or get short if the stock holds under. If the stock begins to perk off that mark, I will be going long adding into dips.

VLTC- expecting a weak open bouncing off of 8.50. I wouldn't dare go long on this stock, I would only go short on a big overextended parabolic move or late day fades. Be very careful on this low float stock!

AMCN- only shorting the fade setup, pretty much has to snap the 4.25 mark

BSPM- expecting a gap up push toward the previous HODs, I will be getting short on parabolic moves into that 1.7 mark! I would highly suggest not shorting this stock if it is able to hold above 1.7 and grind up.

I thought I would mention this here, please keep the discussion about the watchlist/stocks we are trading. I want to avoid any drama. I already PM'd the admin mods, that is all I can do to get him unbanned. Keep in mind my intent was never to get anyone banned, no matter what anyone says.

Options Question

If I'm swing trading and i want a long call, which option contract should i buy? And if i can easily afford it why shouldn't i buy the most expensive contract with the lowest strike price and highest delta? Also on the investopidia options simulator, if the expiration month is April does that mean is expires Apr 18?

4/16 Watchlist (NO MORE BLOG)

4/16 WATCHLIST

People have been asking for me to not continue linking my blog but instead just to post the watchlist here. I am ok with that. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

CHOP is just really over extended with about 5.5 million float. I am expecting one of 2 things to happen tomorrow: 1- The stock gaps up above 3 and parabolics to ideally the 3.30 - 3-50 range. 2- the stock fails to hold 3 after testing a couple of times, then will fade off. Either way I will go short risking off the HOD.

VLTC had a little hiccup today. I fully expect the stock to either: have a weak open then have a red to green move and ramp up to the previous HODs and hold, or the stock washes out and collapses. I will be trading this one reactively. We aware that this is a very low float stock so squeezes are very possible. Also do not be shocked if this has the next "GENE like" drop.

VGGL This stock actually has a history of consistent spike ups followed the next day by falls. Ideally stock stock parabolics to the 2.4 mark in the morning, holds, and fades on the day. If it begins to washout I will short risking off of 2.2.

AMCN Started to shove into that 4.5 mark with a lot of volume and held. Do not be shocked if this thing just fades off. I will short if the stock fails to break that mark!

THCZ just to watch for fun, not trading it.
