korHarmonics - worth it? Some infos and pictures needed if someone has this indicator.

I just tested the Open Source Version (korharmony V1.0), which pretty much always ends up in a huge clusterfuck. I also have PZ_Harmonic, which is super neat and I like it alot, but am willed to try out KorHarmonics in its newest Version, if it provides more than just clusterfuck.

Emerging markets?

I wonder what others think about investing in the emerging markets. It was not a bad strategy in the previous year: http://ift.tt/2phqdhB

Help needed about algorithm trading

I got this class where we're given two sets of prices and we need to devise a trading algorithm. We weren't told how or where to start, I just know it's an excel.

If there's a good person who thinks he can help I'm willing to send the assignment over. I tried understanding it with the professor's help, but he just starts from the middle of it when explaining.

4-28: Notable Insider Buys for the Week

These are insider buys of $10K or more reported to the SEC in the last 5 days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases.

AWGI dirt cheap for what it seems to be

I have just recently heard about this company ambient water corporation. The stocks are such a cheap price, had a 66.7% increase today at $0.0005. The problem is I am struggling to find any information that regards even the slightest amount of information of if the company is projected to be successful or not. Anyone out here have any insight?

Uniform Accounting highlights CLW’s Adjusted EPS is far below as-reported EPS, and as a result, valuations are far more expensive than traditional metrics suggest

  • CLW’s traditional EPS is materially distorted by the age of their assets, and the resultant depreciation charges

  • After making the appropriate UAFRS adjustments, EPS’ has been significantly lower than as-reported EPS, and will continue to be lower going forward

  • As such, traditional metrics materially understate valuations relative to the earnings of the firm, and CLW is far more expensive than investors may realize

Any thoughts on OCLR, particular why it tanked today? I'm 4% in my position with it and want to know if I should hold out. I think it will bounce back.

Trump's tax plan is bullish for U.S. stocks.

I outlined why the tax cuts will be very bullish for U.S. stocks

  1. Most of these tax cuts won't be passed, but some will. Otherwise the Republicans will get killed in 2018.
  2. Every 1% cut in the corporate tax rate is a $1 increase in U.S. corporate earnings.
  3. at long last, it seems that the Republicans will repeal some of Obamacare. Repealing obamacare is necessary to pass tax cuts.

US Credit Rating

What was the impetus for the 2011 US credit rating downgrade and what are the chances it happens given the current political landscape?

First to Drill in Canada's Cobalt Hotspot $CPO.V

We are adding another stock to our cobalt basket today, Cobalt Power Group (TSX: CPO.V). Stock Syndicate recently featured two other Canadian cobalt players, Castle Silver Resources (CSR.V) and CobalTech (CSK.V), and the excitement around this metal continues to brew as the juniors edge into place to become part of the supply chain. Only a year ago cobalt was $10.52/lb. At the time of writing, cobalt is priced at $25.17/lb.

Renewable energy demand combined with a volatile supply chain for cobalt is sending prices skyward to new levels, with some analysts expecting a 900 tonne deficit this year. Recent cobalt headlines detail the metal’s sobering issues, and speak to the case for strong demand going forward, plus a mandate for “conflict free”, North American sourced cobalt. Juniors are stepping up to this plate.

Cobalt Highlights

The name cobalt comes from the German word 'kobald', meaning goblin. Cobalt is used in mobile phones, electric cars, super alloys and magnetic steels. Cobalt, with a melting point of 2,723 degrees Fahrenheit, is known for its use as a super-alloy in jet engines and has now been popularized from its use in lithium-ion batteries in electric cars and phones.

Around 98% cobalt is produced as a by-product of nickel (60%) and copper (38%) The Democratic Republic of Congo is the world’s largest cobalt supplier (55%-64%), but conflict and dispute over land, resources and forced labour are shifting the focus for future supply outside of the DRC to more stable jurisdictions Demand for lithium-ion batteries will grow from 70 GWh in 2016 to 170 GWh by 2020, with “cobalt-containing cathodes accounting for 81% of the market” A couple stealth funds (Pala Investments and Shanghai Chaos Investment) are actually stockpiling cobalt

According to Visual Capitalist’s Jeff Desjardins “Ontario is one of the only places in the world where cobalt-primary mines have existed.” The town of Cobalt Ontario is called the “cradle of Canada’s mining industry” after silver was discovered in 1903 at a station called “Cobalt” during the construction of the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway. The Cobalt silver boom brought prospecting attention, financing interest and eventually mining infrastructure that supported over 100 mines in the area. Skills were developed, technical advances and discoveries were made, and Toronto eventually became known worldwide as a centre for mining finance.

Agnico Eagle recently pledged $1 million to the Cobalt Legacy Fund aimed at preserving the history and cultural heritage of the area. Agnico’s CEO commented “Cobalt is the foundation of our Company and as many of our former silver division employees remain in the region, they will continue to benefit from the preservation of these important cultural and community organizations.”

Cobalt has street names like Silver Street, Prospect Ave, Galena St, Nickle Street, and Nippissing Road, and it is putting Ontario’s friendly mining scene forefront, yet again. Between 1903 and 1966, the area produced over 750 million ounces of silver and over 50 million pounds of cobalt. It’s rather amazing that the town is coming to life on the back of cobalt, when it could have been just as likely to be the high grade shine from silver in the jurisdiction that is attracting finance to this prime area. If the price of silver does travel back up to the levels enjoyed in 2011, look out.

Cobalt Power Group Preps to Begin Drilling

Cobalt Power Group (TSX.V: CPO) has 51 million shares out and a market cap of around $5 million, so it’s looking really, extremely cheap right now, in light of the fact that they will have drills turning shortly. Cobalt Power is exploring in Canada’s proven silver cobalt district in Ontario, an area their technical team knows all too well.

The Smith Cobalt project, Cobalt Power’s flagship, is 370km northwest of Ottawa, near the Ontario/Quebec border. The property is beside the historic Deer Horn mine, also known as the Cross Lake O'Brien mine. The mine produced around 11 million ounces of silver and 100,000 pounds of cobalt up to the mid 1960’s.

What makes Smith particularly interesting is that several of these Ag-Co producing veins from Deer Horn extend onto the Smith property, and the sampling grades they have returned recently are spectacular, here and here. Cobalt Power knows that Smith has at minimum 4 veins, and they are concentrating their IP, aeromag and upcoming drill programs on identifying vein swarms and vein extensions “if Mother Nature cooperates”, commented Jevin Werbes, Chairman of Cobalt Power.

“Agnico mined Deer Horn’s high grade ‘vein 19’ four hundred feet below our known workings at Smith Cobalt. Deer Horn is contiguous with our property and we have a lot of historical data from the underground workings that lead us to believe there could be more veins to discover. Now that winter is over, we are preparing to drill around 10 holes, 1800 meters total. We are ahead of the game and to my knowledge we are the only company out there about to drill.”

All the necessary components of accepted geological models for cobalt-silver have been identified on the Smith property, which recently expanded past 2,000 acres. The Smith Cobalt portion of the property is patented land, they own the minerals rights and the surface rights as well. This area has been under-explored, especially considering its historical significance for Canada’s mining scene. This doesn’t guarantee success in any way shape or form, but for an area play it bodes well this summer and fall when results will start to trickle in. As the saying goes, “the best place to find a mine is near a mine.”

The Team

Andreas Rompel is the President & CEO of Cobalt Power Group. He has a PHD in Structural Geology, M.Sc. in Geology Palaeontology and a Diploma in Investment in Mining Projects. He was formerly Manager of Geoscience Services with Anglo American, and Corporate Business Development Manager and the Country Manager of Exploration (Mexico) for Hochschild. He has major talent on his resume. His experience in the mining and exploration industry spans almost three decades, where he has paved the way for financing and developing a potentially great project.

Mr. Rompel is a leading expert in structural geology, a fitting leader for a project with narrow veins. Mr. Rompel and his VP of Ex Mr. Chris Healey will ensure the company spends the money in the ground, and does the target definition work to increase the chances of success. Mr. Healey is a P. Geo with 48 years of experience in this business. He’s worked at resource projects that range from exploration to production. He began his career with International Nickel Company and then went on to work for Cameco Corporation. He was also President & CEO of Titan Uranium Inc., a tier 1 TSX company where he oversaw the permitting of a major mine and mineral recovery facility. He’s had the glory, he’s experienced the headaches, end to end of the biz.

And last but not least, the company’s board is chaired by Mr. Jevin Werbes, a capital market’s professional with 20 years of practical experience in the mineral exploration and corporate finance securities industry and investor relations. He is the former President & CEO of Ansell Capital Corp, and current President and CEO of Carmax Mining Corp.

First to Drill

Cobalt Power just might be the first junior to drill test Canada’s “silver sidewalk” this season so all eyes will be on them when they publish drill results. The strategy is to concentrate first on verifying the historical data and then do a few step out drill holes, so initial assays could really knock some socks off. Besides confirming the known veins and strike length potential, they also want to confirm values from their excellent muck pile sampling from January. The pile is around 50m X 20m, with anywhere between 5,000-10,000 tonnes of crushed rock. Samples returned an encouraging average of 0.5% cobalt from the pile.

Two rock samples were also taken from a vein that was uncovered while clearing vegetation around a shaft, returning 7.85% Co and 118 g/t Ag, and 3.77% Co and 60.2 g/t Ag, for an average of 5.81% Co and 89.1 g/t Ag for the 2 rocks.

This is not first nations ground, but the team has consulted with local first nations, and without issue received the head nod to go ahead with their programs.

Cash Position

CPO has around $750,000 in cash and another $480,000 in flow through which will cover phase 1 drilling, and that doesn’t include 3.8 million warrants in the money that could come into the coffers, which expire May 1, 2017. The flow through allows phase 1 drilling to complete and get them into phase 2 follow up as well. The first program should take around 4-6 weeks to complete.

Where There is History…

Does Agnico’s old flagship mine, the Deer Horn, hint that these veins are going to multiply? Does the technical team’s theory that deeper vein swarms might be coming up towards the Smith workings provide some blue sky? Absolutely, especially at a market cap less than $10 mill. Logistically, CPO could not ask for a better setting, better infrastructure or a more mining-friendly area. And with cobalt’s newfound celebrity, the wind is at the back of this one.

CPO is gobbling up other historically intriguing cobalt properties as well to increase the chances of success when it comes time to drill. They announced late March the addition of the Bende and Kingston cobalt prospects, nice complements to the Smith property. Bende and Kingston have historical workings and mapped data that allow the tech team to proceed quickly towards target generation. Both assets come together to present low risk exploration targets which can be advanced in a relatively short period of time. They have 100% interest in all of their properties including the Proteus and Kirk Lake projects.

Take a scroll through CPO’s media here and make sure to check out their PPT at that link as well.

Conclusion

Majors and mid tiers are going to start watching this next phase of work in the Cobalt area closely, some are going to open their checkbooks early to ensure they have deals in place with those cobalt explorers delivering the goods. Others are going to sit back and wait for the juniors to consolidate, but either way, we see a lot of potential for these companies, and CPO in particular, to go the right way.

We anxiously await the arrival of the truth machine and we will stay with the Cobalt Power Group story to see if they hit the wire with the first set of drill results in Canada’s cobalt cradle!

CIEC .008 Real Life, Provable Due Diligence

CIEC has been dormant for years as essentially a shell stock. Shell stocks can become new companies when someone buys the shell / merges their company into the existing company. One of if not the very first step if you are 'dormant' is getting up to date with the State. CIEC was "reinstated" and shared a new annual list of corporate members today 4/25. This is a hint that CIEC is possibly in the middle of being taken over/reverse merged into an existing company. Here is the Nevada Secretary of State website with proof: http://ift.tt/2q51GgQ

Uniform Accounting highlights CCK’s Adjusted EPS is going to decline, not grow, and valuations are not as cheap as it appears using as-reported metrics

  • CCK’s traditional EPS is materially distorted by the accounting for operating leases and R&D

  • After making the appropriate UAFRS adjustments, EPS’ growth has been weak, and EPS’ is actually expected to decline next year, not grow

  • Traditional metrics materially understate valuations relative to the earnings of the firm, and CCK is more expensive than investors may realize

Advice: Is now a good time to invest in a private prison company?

I've seen several stories now on private prison companies' stocks rising because of President Trump's election. (Most recently, this story: http://pbpo.st/2oJc6in) But it seems like they're really a roller-coaster stock. Last year, I was reading about how they were plunging. Politics aside, would this be a solid, long-term investment? Or is it too politically tied to be stable?

Walmart Stock Extending Higher

WMT broke above 2016 peak and it's now showing a bullish sequence from 2015 low which mean unless it's doing a flat , the stock will ideally extend toward $77 area followed by a pullback then another leg higher to around $84 area.

Question about "reliable" leveraged ETFs

I'm fairly new to investing, and have a question about leveraged ETFs.

In particular I'm curious about Direxion Large Cap Bull 3X Shares (SPXL). I've read a bit about leveraged ETFs and how the math seems to work out, and understand that they tend to be used for day trading and short-term gains.

But looking at SPXL's long term trends, it seems like it is simply a worthwhile investment in the long term; even more-so than stable ETFs like SPY. An explanation of why I shouldn't just invest a bunch of money into SPXL would be greatly appreciated!

Uniform Accounting Highlights QCOM will see declining EPS’ going forward, meaning it’s not a value name, but potentially a value trap

  • QCOM’s traditional EPS is materially distorted by their accounting for R&D and stock option expenses

  • After making the appropriate UAFRS adjustments, it is apparent that while EPS’ is greater than as-reported EPS, EPS’ is expected to decline next year, not grow significantly like as-reported metrics suggest

  • Given declines in EPS’ expectation in the next four quarters, QCOM equity may not be as attractive a value opportunity as valuations would initially suggest

Does anyone know of a site that keeps track of all Sell Side Research ratings and comments on US equities?

And yes I am aware SS Research is inherently biased.

Uniform Accounting Highlights SLB’s EPS’ has remained positive, and is greater than as-reported EPS, suggesting valuations are not as expensive as they initially appear

  • SLB’s traditional EPS is materially distorted by the treatment of R&D and operating leases under GAAP and IFRS

  • UAFRS-based EPS shows that while earnings growth will be slightly more muted than as-reported metrics, this is because EPS’ is already much stronger, and less volatile

  • SLB’s UAFRS-based P/E of 32.6x is much lower than P/E of 44.4x on an as-reported basis, and considering expected EPS’ growth rates, this suggests the firm may still be cheap

Peeks Social - E-commerce Meets Live Streaming!

Peeks is an e-commerce based live streaming platform that allows users to interact and transact in real time with real cash. Different from it's competitors because it does not use virtual gifts/money, but REAL currency. No third party payment processing.

US ticker is KEEKF Canadian ticker is PEEK.V

Peeks Social (TSXV:PEEK) is an opportunity for risk-tolerant investors to get into a monetized social media play at an early-stage valuation of around $100 million. PEEK owns 30% of Peeks Social while Mark Itwaru's private holding company Personas owns the other 70%.

As it has transitioned from Keek into Peeks it is already earning substantial revenue through the tipping mechanism. Further features like the offer box promise to make Peeks Social into a leading driver of the social commerce movement.

As this is a startup it is risky in nature and investors should do their own due diligence in determining if PEEK is a suitable investment for them.

It just launched in the beginning of November and has been on an absolute tear growing organically.

-Already ranked #14 in top grossing social apps in the Play Store as of April 17th (as per similarweb.com rankings)

This next bit are all the reasons why I believe this stock/app will be successful and explode to the upside:

-The CEO Mark has put $19 million dollars of his own money into this. It's his baby. Additionally, he holds approximately 25 million shares, and SEDAR proves that he has not sold a single one even when we were $2+

-The monetization system (tipping directly within the app with no third party involvement) is patented and owned by the CEO. This is the main disruptive difference between Peeks Social and any other social media platform out there. An ability to monetize the userbase without advertising.

-Peeks rakes in certain percentages of all tips as well as percentages of all crowdfunds and Pay To Watch streams.

-One of the other main disruptive features of the app, the Offer Box, was just launched this week and will gain traction in the coming days and will bring it tonnes of revenue for the company.

-Newly added crowdfund feature has been an absolute hit, with over $5 million worth of campaigns in the first week. Again, Peeks takes a percentage of all tips here.

-Scott Disick (20million Instagram followers and ties to the Kardashians) has just been welcomed to Peeks and will be doing his first live stream in the coming days.

-Just today (4/19/17), Peeks announced that former Vine stars Jerry Purpdrank and Daniel 'Nampaikid' Nguyen will be joining the Peeks platform. They have over 10+ million fans.

-It is rumoured that a lot of A-List celebrities are already on board and will be welcomed onto the app in the coming weeks.

-Peeks has recently completed a Private Placement to raise cash, presumably for the payment of A-list celebs. Official news releases state that up to $5,400,000 was raised.

-CEO himself has said that Peeks Social will be the lead sponsor for Caribana Toronto 2017. (not confirmed in official release yet)

-Peeks has deals already with National Geographic, Warner Bros, Namaste

-Namaste just released record earnings and record sales.

-Namaste will be selling its products through Peeks' Offer Box

-Jim Westlake was just named to the Peeks BoD. He was previously the HEAD of RBCs international banking and insurance operations. Jim has particular expertise in corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, strategic growth, and organizational structuring.

-Stock options were given to Peeks employees by the CEO Mark, at a price of $2. This was when the stock was trading at about $1.60.

-Peeks has been selected for inclusion in the 2017 TSX Venture 50, a ranking of the top performers on the TSX Venture Exchange -has been named the #1 company overall in the Technology sector in the Venture 50

-App Annie and Alexa rankings for Peeks Social, peeks.com have been climbing exponentially since the launch of the app, and all organically. There has not been any marketing or promotion done.

-PMBC has been hired as Peeks' marketing and promotional group. They are based in LA and have ties to many celebrities including the Kardashians. Again, as far as we know, they have not done any kind of marketing yet.

-The app is only 6 months old, essentially still in beta testing. -Desktop version for livestreaming is in the works and expected in the near future.

-It has been making revenue since the day it launced, amazing for a startup.

-Most current ARPU (average revenue per user) numbers show a major upside to those of Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.

-The most recent financials report wasn't amazing, but it definitely looked promising for future quarters, especially when we get a decent user base. It showed proof of concept thats for sure!

-Keek, the first version of the app that DID NOT have the montization process yet (tipping, entry fees for streams etc.) once had Kim Kardashian on board and over 75 million users. These users could not be monetized and the price to keep celebrities on board was way too expensive and almost bankrupt the company. Imagine 75 million users today, with the processes we have in place? (and the offer box)

-The CEO was different back then. Mark stepped in to save, and make the app 1000% times better which so far he has done.

-The CEO is a very smart man, he sold his first tech company for $300 million dollars.

-The CEO has stated that "this is just the beginning" of the app and there are many more good things to come.

-With a current market cap of only $60 million, comparing to Snapchats $25 billion, which is losing money at an incredible rate with no ability to monetize it's user base, show's the upside potential of Peeks.

-Download the app yourself and try to envision the potential this could have once the user base grows and money starts pouring in. It will be a wealth creation you only get once in a lifetime in my opinion.

This app is currently flying under the radar. Once this thing goes viral, I believe it will up go hundreds if not thousands of percent. This is why I am all in on this investment!

What do you folks think?

Stock market crash in 2017?

I see on youtube a bunch of videos on the stock market crashing this year and they say it will be worse than 2008. So will there be a crash in the market because of like gold and retail doing bad or something else like interest and inflation rates going up?

NVDA REVERSAL

NVDA is going back up to at least $110 before earnings, after that "downgrade" it fell, came clawing out of the double digits and today another analysis downgraded it, however, it is resilient and as determined as Delonte West to get in LeBron's mom. Too drunk didn't read NVDA all the way up

Does anyone know where to find historical credit ratings for government bonds (S&P scale, preferably)?

For example, I know that US & Canada have their gov. bonds rated since 1941 and 1949, respectively, but I can't find their all time ratings. Like, a list of which rating they received every year since then.

Does anyone know a database with such information? And, if possible, that includes more countries than just US & Canada?

4-21: Significant Insider Buys for the Week

These are insider buys of $10K or more reported to the SEC in the last 5 days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases.
